Good News Friday is a short weekly email launched in February 2023 by me, Dave Bennett. "But I thought you retired...why commit to a weekly deadline?" I explain why in the first 'Welcome' message, but the essence of it is this - I believe consulting engineers, scientists, (and the people and entities that support them) contribute more to human progress than anyone else. More than politicians, government institutions or universities. Who else does more? These are the people who translate ideas and theories into the practical reality the world gets to the enjoy, if not take for granted. Compare life during the stone-age to your life today and you see what I mean. Water in your tap, sewage removal and treatment, bridges over rivers and a thousand other things. They don't just spontaneously happen. A small group of people did that.

Yet these folks are under-recognized, under-appreciated, and under-compensated, even sometimes by the people they work for and with. Good News Friday is intent on gradually countering that by helping consultants and companies 1) stop shooting themselves in the foot, and 2) take actions that maximize both short and long-term success. It's a one-two punch.
